A Pair of Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park briefly.
