Roughly fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found many other smeared vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.
A senior official stated the incident made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
